About bbno$

Sometimes I just wake up one day, take a shit and make a hit.

bbno$’s musical journey has been a wild ride. From blowing up overnight in China to finding global success with a song that he doesn’t like, there is really no telling what is next for the Canadian rapper.

Alexander Gumuchian (born June 30, 1995) got his start in music as a member of Broke Boy Gang, a group of friends based in their hometown of Vancouver. His first solo song, “nah”, was released in early 2016.

bbno$’s artist name, pronounced “baby no money”, is pretty self-explanatory. He has often described himself and has been described by friends as frugal and stingy, thus birthing the “no money” nickname.

Alex may not have known it at the time, but one of the most significant moments of his career would be connecting with Yung Gravy, who is now a close friend of his. The two met when they only had around 100 followers each on SoundCloud, with their music now racking up millions of streams, and their duo work coming to be known under the name BABY GRAVY.

As previously mentioned, Gumuchian also had a major breakout in China after a member of the popular dance group TFBOYS danced to his since-deleted track “Yokyo Tokyo”, which led to him selling out tours in the country. His global success can be attributed to “Lalala” (2019), as the song became a meme and spread rapidly on TikTok, as well as becoming his first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100.

Since then, bbno$ has had a steady stream of releases, earning another hit in 2021 with “edamame”, a dumb fun collaboration with Rich Brian. While he might not yet be a household name, bbno$’s unique rise to fame is not one that will be forgotten.
