The Voice is Chicago rapper Lil Durk’s sixth studio album and his second project of 2020, following Just Cause Y’all Waited 2, which was released back in May.
The album’s lead single and title track, “The Voice,” was released alongside a music video on September 4, 2020. This single was for unknown reasons released in place of the album, as Durk had announced earlier in the week that the project would be releasing on the same day his rival, 6ix9ine, was releasing his album, Tattletales.
Prior to the release of the single, Lil Durk had begun to tweet “The Voice” several times. From then on, Durk started to call himself “the voice” regularly.
The Young Thug and 6LACK-assisted single, “Stay Down,” was released on October 30, 2020.
An unfinished version of the album was leaked online on December 13, 2020. More songs were leaked the following day on the 14th.
The album’s final single, “Backdoor,” was released on December 21, 2020.
Just a day before the official album release, Durk announced the album on December 23, 2020, via a Twitter post of the official cover art. On the day of the release, Durk later posted the official tracklist.
On May 17, 2022, The Voice was certified platinum by the RIAA.
On the week of January 16, 2021, The Voice peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200.
Yes! Hoodies, T-Shirts, and beanies will be released with official tracklisting on the hoodies and T-Shirts. It was released via Durk’s OTF Gear.
