About “Almighty So 2”

Almighty So 2 is Chief Keef’s long-awaited fifth studio album and the official sequel to Keef’s 2013 project Almighty So.

Almighty So 2 was first announced in an interview with Keef after his performance at Rolling Loud music festival in Oakland, California. He was asked what projects his fans should expect soon. Keef replied with the projects Back From The Dead 3, The Cozart, and Almighty So 2 were all coming soon, with The Cozart releasing in September of 2018 and Back From The Dead 3 releasing a month after The Cozart.

About seven months after Almighty So 2 was announced, Keef released the official cover art for the project on his Instagram on April 6, 2019. Three days following the release of the cover art, on April 9, 2019, Keef released the track “Boost” which was a promotional single for the project.

One song off of the album’s rollout, “Mooliani" featuring Lil Uzi Vert, was rumored to be a part of Almighty So 2, however, the song was given to fellow rapper Lil Reese for his project Supa Savage 3, due to Uzi’s label not clearing their verse.

On July 23, 2022, Chief Keef and producer Akachi released the album’s lead single, “Tony Montana Flow.”

After keeping radio silent about the album for a year, on September 15, 2022, Chief Keef replied to a tweet from Spotify about Almighty So 2 coming out, to which he responded:

👀

On October 14, 2022, Chief Keef announced on social media that the highly anticipated album would be released on December 16, 2022. That same day, Sosa released the album’s second single, “Racks Stuffed Inna Couch.” “Tony Montana Flow” would make it to the final tracklisting while “Racks Stuffed Inna Couch” would be cut off entirely, despite making it to the original lineup.

On January 17, 2023, Chief Keef’s new label 43B posted a recording session for the album, featuring a choir for one of the tracks, as well as announcing that the entire project would be produced by Sosa himself.

Then on March 28, 2023, in a now deleted tweet, Lil Gnar announced that he had self-recorded a verse for the album, confirming his involvement.

After keeping notoriously quiet on the album’s status for some time and numerous delays, on July 10, 2023, Sosa took to Instagram sharing clips of studio sessions for the album, with the caption reading:

Almighty So 2’s on the way so we caught up with Sosa to get a peek at what he’s cooking up for the album🔥

Then on November 5, 2023, Sosa would take to Instagram revealing two new cover arts for the album, with the caption stating:

2 real soon

On January 27, 2024, during a behind-the-scenes shoot of the song “Say Ya Grace,” director Cole Bennett asked Chief Keef’s manager Peeda Pan about the state of the album, in which his manager states that the songs were complete and that they were waiting on the features to be recorded and the mixing to be finalized before its release.

After two years of multiple delays with little to no announcements on the album’s status, on March 7, 2024, it was announced through social media that the album was finally completed, with the supposed tracklist being leaked, to which it consisted of sixteen tracks and four features from Ballout, Lil Gnar, G Herbo, and Quavo.

Finally on May 6, 2024, new information for the album was shared to the internet, with the official final tracklist for the album revealed and the official trailer dropping, with the official May 10 release date. Sexyy Red and Tierra Whack were both added onto the final tracklist as the six sole features.

“Drifting Away,” the album’s third and final single, would then be released on May 9, 2024, a day before the album’s release. Sosa would also announce through social media the album’s official new artwork and tracklist the same day.
